Remembering that we are finite, limited creatures, and that we do not have the time or talent to do everything that will be suggested, let us consider some practical possibilities. – Edith Schaeffer
So what if we’ve resolved to take our time and our talents to bless others in the area of making our surroundings beautiful but don’t know where to begin? I’ve got to say, waking up this morning and writing out my list of to-do’s did not inspire me. I looked at all the cleaning and organizing before me and felt like I’d just buried myself before the day even began. But, you have to start somewhere. One of my university profs used to always say to our class that showing up was half the battle. We can begin by just digging in to whatever work or project is set before us and completing a task or trying our hand at something new without being afraid of getting it all done immediately or perfectly. Most of us don’t have an “extra” two or three hours a day to devote to working on a quilt or cooking up a Thanksgiving style roast, but we do have some time to do some things.
I’ve come up with a little challenge for anyone out there reading, along with myself. It’s going to go like this. Every day, along with my list of usual chores and responsibilities, I’m going to pick one thing that I want to create or beautify and just go for it. I’ll post a before and after picture each day from the previous day. It can be anything from baking to re-aranging a disorganized shelf, to putting together a little floral centrepiece. Let’s see what we can come up with. If you want to join me and take pictures along the way, you can send me your favourite one at the end of the month and from anyone who submits an entry, I’ll enter you in a draw for a $50.00 Anthropologie gift card! If that’s not incentive, I don’t know what is.
Check back later today and I’ll post a my Day 1 pic from the challenge. I can’t wait to see what you all are doing out there so I can be encouraged and inspired!
I like the challenge! And the incentive!!
The new look for the blog is great too.
